Employers use the Career Profiler to ensure that they place people into jobs that they are more likely to enjoy, and therefore thrive in. Happy people will, of course, perform better! Each organisation has a unique formula for success when it comes to determining the best level of ‘fit’ for inducting new people into their business. The Profiler is used in conjunction with other methods for shortlisting candidates, such as measurement of skills, experience and qualifications.
If you are experiencing problems with the profiler there could be one of several causes:
Cause 1
Flash - Please check that Flash is installed on the computer you are using as this is required to run the profiler. Internet Explorer has a different version of Flash than Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari, so you may need to download Flash for your particular browser. You can download this program from Adobe.
Cause2
MAC - If your profiler appears small, or you are being sent straight to www.StaffCV.com, this is often a problem experienced by people using an Apple/Mac computer. Please check that you have Flash and Shockwave Player installed for your Mac browser. See above.
Cause 3
For PC and Mac users: Javascript - The computer browser you are using may not support Javascript, or you have Javascript support turned off. The Profiler does require Javascript support to run correctly. You will need to enable Javascript. Included below are steps on how to do this:
Internet Explorer Browser
- Open the browser, and select Tools/Internet Options.
- Click on the Security tab.
- Select the Internet option.
- Click on the CUSTOM LEVEL button.
- Scroll down the list to the 'Scripting' folders - all scripting folders need to be set to Enable.
- Once set, click OK
Firefox or other Browser
- Google Chrome: Click on the spanner icon in the top right corner. Choose "Options". When the popup box appears, click on "Under the Hood". Choose "Content Settings" and choose "Javascript", and Enable.
- Firefox: Choose "Tools" then "Options". Click on Content, then choose "Enable Javascript" and click OK.
- Safari: This may cause problems. If you can't get the profiler to work straight away, try installing Google Chrome or Firefox to use those.
You may wish to try accessing the profiler from another computer if you have enabled Javascript but are continuing to experience problems.
UPDATE
Sometimes the Career Profielr does not save your answers to question 12 properly. Log out of the website, and back in again. Click on "Tools" and "Career Profiler". Start from the beginning and click "Next" then "Yes" until you complete all the questions. Once you have clicked through all twelve, the profiler should complete and give you the results page.
However, if the profiler doesn't save your answers properly, click Request Support, send us a ticket with your options for question 12, and we will help finish it for you.
